Spam Brando, through the lens...through the years...
...Spam Brando originally started sometime in the spring of 1984. So many musicians have passed through the ranks, at one time or another and many are pictured here on these pages. Not all were photographed but we remember everyone! (Ok, almost everyone!)

The very beginnings of Spam Brando. The first alumnae group includes Bob Callahan and Mike Ware
To anyone reading this, if you have a clue as to who else may have been in the band in 1984 with Bob, Mike and me, please let us know! The mind is the first thing to go, doncha know!

The never ending revolving door of musicians.... Spam Brando has never and probably WILL never be a rehearsing band. Many came through the ranks; some were incredible, some were downright awful...
Bob Callahan and Mike Ware left the band to concentrate on Ware And Tare. The newest lineup as of late 1984, early 1985 consisted of Cindy Owens on drums, Jimmy Lynch on guitar, Kevin Lillis on bass, Lou Georgia on guitar and Mike Evans doing vocals. Soon after, Lou left the band and was replaced by his brother Rob Georgia. The last gig took place in late 1985 and Owens moved to Florida in December of that year.

Reunion Time at On The Hill Cafe, May 1986
There was a family function Owens was to attend up north in May of 1986 and she regrouped the band to play a single gig at On The Hill Cafe in Danbury. Kevin Lillis had by this time relocated to the Boston area so Kenny Owens (no relation) played bass. The rest of the line-up remained the same: Owens, Rob Georgia, Jimmy Lynch and Mike Evans, with special guest Richie Chaco as well.

From The FlemTones BACK to Spam Brando.... (early-mid 1989)
(L-R): Dennis, Ray, Cindy, Jimmy at the Fieldhouse in New Milford, CT)
Ok, now try to follow here, ok? Just to keep you updated, Owens was back in CT in April of 1987, expecting her second little bundle of joy, ten years after the first one.
Now, if you saw one of the OTHER pages here, "The Time Before Spam", you would know that in early 1989, there were the FlemTones... Well, the FlemTones name did not last and after a couple of false starts, they turned back into Spam Brando.
Perratti left soon after to form the band The Downboyz and Spam Brando continued on, adding singer/guitarist Ray Campbell, who had previously played with Owens way back when Owens & Losses was around, plus Jimmy Lynch was back onboard full time.

Well, as you might expect, Perratti wasn't gone for long and he soon replaced HIS replacement!
The newest and more of the same Spam Brando line-up, circa June-July 1989:
(L - R): Glen Hall, Cindy Owens, Denis Peck & Scott Perratti

Spam Brando reemerged with Owens, brother Scott Perratti re-replacing Ray Campbell, Dennis Peck and newest victim Glen Hall after the departure of Jay Scott. Jimmy Lynch still played on occasion and both his brother Dennis Lynch and afterwards,Gerry Gerst joined on keyboards for a time. This combination stayed mostly the same, except for the onslaught of lead guitarists that were to pass through the ranks.
Adding Jimi and Frank to the mix:
Guitarist/vocalists Jimi Atger and Frank Lake joined Owens, Perratti and Peck in late 1989, so now there were three guitars, including Perratti's to contend with!
Atger stayed on for a while and then left to join Future Tense while Frank continued with Spam Brando...
(L - R): Jimi Atger, Cindy Owens, Scott Perratti, Dennis Peck, Frank Lake
Spam, Spam and more Spam...
Clockwise from bottom left): Frank Lake, Dennis Peck, Cindy Owens, Scott Perratti
With Atger having gone to Future Tense, Frank, Scott, Cindy and Dennis continued on for a bit but Dennis eventually decided to leave the band and Owens decided to dissolve Spam Brando and take a break for a bit.
Scott and Frank then formed Whiplash, adding Gary Tracy on drums and Danny Sawyer on bass.

MTV visits Marcus Dairy on Super Sunday August 2, 1992
Whiplash had the gig at Marcus Dairy for Super Sunday but Gary Tracy was unable to make it so Owens filled in. What a day to not show up! MTV was doing a story on Super Sunday and a full crew arrived to get the story. The bikes, the leather, the charities and the band all made it onto the small screen that weekend!

(And boy, if she don't look the heifer!)
1994...Back with Jimi Atger...
Don't even ask... I have no idea of exactly how things transpired but I do know that Whiplash broke up and Spam Brando somehow came around AGAIN with Owens, Dennis Peck, Jimi Atger (after his departure from Future Tense), Scott Perratti and newest addition, singer Lisa Burgos. At some point, Perratti left again and it was down to four.

Spam Bando circa 1994-1997
This newest incarnation of Spam Brando was an almost complete overhaul, with Owens and Perratti remaining. Added were Scott Chamberland on tenor sax, Bruce Tibbitts on guitar, Dave Jayne on bass with Bob Fink joining up later in time.

The Super Group...1999 L-R: Larry Booth, Tracey Smith, Jimmy Lynch, Cindy Owens, Scott Chamberland, Mike Walsh (behind Bruce), Bruce Tibbitts, Bob Fink

...Unbelievable... What a super group ever to assemble under one banner! Ok, I admit it; I lied to each and every one of these musicians, telling each one that all the others were doing this pairing up - and they ALL bought into it, lucky for me! The best instrumentalists, the best vocalists...

It actually got a restart with former and current Spamsters Cindy Owens, Jimmy Lynch, Scott Chamberland, Bruce Tibbitts and Bob Fink. Dave Overthrow and then Peter Bennett were originally on bass but neither could work it out so lucky for us, Larry Booth stepped in. Add vocalist Mike Walsh of Future Tense and then later, vocalist Tracy Smith, formerly of Fast Idle and we had one hell of a band!
Unfortunately, sometimes good things must come to an end and between the eight of us, it was impossible to keep things civil at times. Communication broke down and by early 2000, Smith, Fink, Booth and Tibbitts had departed, with Owens, Walsh, Lynch and Chamberland teaming up with bass player/vocalist Pat Lavery and later, guitarist Phil Forbes. After finally recording a demo CD and getting some playing time, in early 2002, Jim Lynch decided to part ways with Spam Brando to focus on other projects.
Now, in the year 2007, the current line-up is still Owens, Lavery, Forbes and and sometimes Walsh, with Scott Chamberland recently departed. Mike's primary band, Future Tense recently added former Spamster Jimmy Lynch to THEIR roster!
Depending on venue and monetary offerings, Spam Brando can be either a three, four or five piece unit. (See CURRENT SpamPics page)
